THE RAVENS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!
I am not normally a big football fan, which hasn't been a problem in the past few years. While in Belgium, we could only get a few games on AFN and they came on at hours that allowed Tom to watch at work, so I never had to sit through the games. Then in South Carolina, there were rarely professional football games broadcast on the television. Lots of high school and college games, but only a few were of interest. But now that we are living 'back home', the Ravens are the Home Team. On Game Days, you see lots of people wearing the Purple--women as well as men. Even Mom is well versed on the game and it's intricacies!
What I have learned since we returned to the area is that the Ravens have a hotshot rookie quarterback. This was considered a 'rebuilding year' I believe, but Flacco (the quarterback) has proven to be a quick study. Today's spectacular win (27-7 over the Jacksonville Jaguars) clinched a spot in the playoffs. How's that for a kid who was supposed to be cutting his teeth? ;)
So on the day after Christmas, we got talking about the game today and how important it was. Mom first invited brother Tommy to come out to the house to watch the game with Mom and Dad. Tommy seemed to like the idea. Later, she also invited Tom and me, and we went. Tommy was sick today so he chose not to come after all. But we saw a good game and enjoyed a nice meal. Get well soon, Tommy.
and
GO RAVENS!
