They called!

Got a call from the Community Theater yesterday...it was the director of the upcoming play, letting us know that she wasn't ready for us yet, but was looking forward to working with us. There is a rehearsal Sunday and we are welcome to pop in, just to meet folks and get a feel for the group, if we'd like. She was all apologies that we had not been contacted in the year since we first offered to volunteer there and wanted us to know we were no longer going to be ignored. We are not going on Sunday because we already have plans to visit a friend we met in Belgium who is visiting a neighboring state. But we'll meet those folks soon enough.
