Tom and I have started some home improvements in earnest. We have gotten estimates on spray in and spray on insulation, an insert for the fireplace, and removal of several dead trees on the property. We have already had the spray in insulation done in the walls. It really is quieter, once we properly closed the windows the workers opened and didn't quite get closed. Today we have a workman doing spray-on insulation on the ceiling in the garage. We are hoping this has a twofold effect--a warmer bedroom floor for us, and no rodents living above the insulation! We will need another fireplace insert estimate, as we were not thrilled with the one we got, and the tree removal estimate should arrive in a few days.
The house is in a state of uproar. Tom wanted to finish the wiring job he was working on before the insulation was done in the walls. That meant removing all the stuff from the attic so he could have complete access. It is all still in the living room, waiting for sorting and return to storage. As for the garage, all that stuff had to be organized or removed, as well. That means some of it is sitting under cover in the driveway, some is in the laundry room, and some is in the entryway between garage and house.
And I volunteered to host Easter this year. We will be very busy for a few more weeks, but we should be able to pull it together. And the house will be better with all this done....I hope.
