Happy Thanksgiving
Tom and I spent the holiday with part of his family at sister Renee's house. Dinner was scheduled for 4:00, I arrived with my contributions about 3:15--and I was the first to arrive! Renee was very calm, even Zen, compared to how *I* would have been with a houseful of guests expected. All the food was prepared and waiting in the warming oven. I added my potato dish, put out the cheese platter I brought and shared a few minutes with Renee and Sue. I met their new dog Oliver, who is a sweet little guy, very friendly but not overwhelmingly so. At five minutes to 4:00, Tom called to say he was just leaving work and we shouldn't hold dinner for him. Since NO ONE else was there, yet, I wasn't worried. Eventually, niece Lindsay arrived with her boyfriend Chris, followed a bit later by niece Britty, sister Laura and her hubby Gary (who quickly grabbed two platters of food to take to the hospital for his Mom), and Tom's Mom. Tom himself walked in five minutes after the rest of the crowd..Did I mention that he worked on Thanksgiving?
Anyway, dinner was lovely, with lots of contributed dishes from the rest of the family and fun conversation. After dinner, we got involved with a video version of Pictionary, which was a lot of laughs. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Tom is off work today (Friday). He will be handling some sort of paperwork with his Mom, then working in his garage. I will be preparing the house for company on Sunday. Kimberly and Den are coming, and I have invited my children and their spouses/kids for dinner. I am hoping to have a fun evening, maybe play some board games.
Hope your Thanksgiving celebration was a good one, full of family, fun, friends and frivolity. :)
