Thinking of Lucy

It has been raining all day today.  It reminds me of how much Lucy disliked getting wet - she would avoid going out in the rain just as long as she could. She also disliked having accidents in the house - you could just tell. When she finally decided to go out, I would try to cover her with an umbrella in the days when she was still somewhat independent...later, we just both got wet...

I miss her.

• I have been a very lazy blogger.  Much has happened since my last post.  So, in bullets:
• There was an EARTHQUAKE on the east coast, epicenter in Virginia.  There were two episodes of several seconds of shaking.  No damage to the house, but it was a definitely weird feeling--it reminded me exactly of the Earthwuake Experience we did with the kids at Universal Studios years ago. 
• Kev and Geraldine (of the UK) arrived for about two weeks' vacation shortly AFTER the quake. We had a blast with them.
• Their arrival was delayed one day by Hurricane Irene.
• The Hurricane hit our area the second day of their visit.
• We lost one tree, which 'narrowly' missed the house.  Said tree was about 110' tall and had a 6' diameter trunk.  The house vibrated when it fell.
• We spent a day in Lancasster, Pa. Loved it.
• We spent a very rainy day in Washington DC.  Loved it.  Would have loved it more without the rain.
• We all experienced a zip-line adventure in Harper's Ferry, VA.
• Hopes for a Greek vaction this year have been dashed by work responsiblilities of our friends due to the London Olympics.  We'll get together soon, though, I hope.
• Jodi's Baby Shower was in August (?).  Loved it.  Her good friend Kassidy surprised her by being here.  It was great.
• Turns out my nephew's fiancee Amanda is a huge fan of SheDaisy.  She was very excited to learn Kassidy sings with them.  Kassidy did not find out she was a fan until after Amanda had gone home.  When we discovered Amanda's coat left behind, Jen suggested a picture with Kassidy wearing it.  Such fun!
• Our dear grandson made his arrival at the end of October.  Mommy was induced, went through something like 25 hours of labor without progression, so Thomas arrived by C-section.  He is beautiful and healthy.
• Tom and I have been watching TJ and Jodi's dogs since Jodi was in the hospital to deliver Thomas.  This was not the original plan, but it has been decided that it is better all around that the dogs stay with us until things settle down at their house.
